About Speightstown and the north: the back story

In its early days Speightstown was a bustling port trading with Bristol in England, which earned it the nickname Little Bristol, according to Visit Barbados. Its streets of old buildings, Arlington House Museum and the Gallery of Caribbean Art make it a lovely morning, and to the north the island grows wilder: Port St Charles and the long beaches of St. Peter, St Nicholas Abbey and Cherry Tree Hill, the Wildlife Reserve and Farley Hill, and the Atlantic cliffs of St. Lucy, with Mount Gay’s distillery and the Animal Flower Cave.
